Great local food. Get there early because they are always busy. Defiantly worth the trip.

The chicken katsu is delicious!!! We had chicken katsu, loco moco and oxtail soup. The best thing was the chicken katsu.

Great place! It really does have a local vibe and the food is tasty. I think I paid about $11 for my chicken katsu regular plate and it left me very happy and full.

The most local experience you'll ever get and equally delicious food. You can get genuine Lau Lau here and amazing chicken. Don't expect great service here tho - that's how you know it's genuinely local 🤙🏽

Smiley chicken is tasty n crispy, but long chicken was full of salt 🤮, and garlic butter shrimp was rice soaking in butter 🤣, and the Lau Lau pork is also fantastic it's good for price

Good, local meals with reasonable prices and friendly wait staff. They have the best mac salad I have ever had, and the chicken katsu was very good!

Food was delicious and the owner was so nice. We had a large group right at closing and not only did they still serve us but let us eat inside instead of taking it to go even though they getting ready to go. The owner gave us lots of recs for things to do on the island as well.

You know it's good when all the customers are locals. The Ahi Katsu was the good. I saw someone eating Lobster that looked ono. There are only 6 tables so you can order and take out. It is open for lunch and dinner. Definitely a must if you hungry or passing by Lihue.

Nice little restaurant. Big portions. I had the loco moco, which, translated in Spanish would be "crazy booger." I'm guessing here in Kauai moco means something else.The only thing I didn't like is that we came in and got seated but the folks were seated after us, who knew the wait staff, got waited on first. That's not polite at all. I'm going to chalk it up as an accident. Food was really good.

I went to Kauai a year ago and this restaurant has been part of my best memories of the island. My favorite dishes are Korean chicken and laulau. And this is the only restaurant within the island that we’ve come twice of our 5-day stay there.

I really like this place. I ordered steak and tempura shrimp. It started out with corn chowder, which was really good. The steak was cooked to Perfection, and tempura is good as always. This was a convenient spot, as it is near Lihue Airport and was a good place to stop before my flight out on my last night on the island of Kauai.

Smileys is the type of local place that I love going to when traveling. Their spicy garlic chicken is fantastic, the chicken long rice was amazing and the brown gravy on tbe hamburger steak was delicious.. I recommend Smiley's for a local plate lunch that you will not forget.

Food was hella good! Try the boneless fried chicken and oxtail soup was a good combo. If i live here ill probably eat here all the time. Service was great also!

This place is amazing! Simply delicious and the portions are great! I got the pork with onions instead of the macaroni salad and it was very good! My husband ordered the smiley chicken with garlic sauce and hamburger steak. I of course tried it and it was also very delicious! That gravy with the hamburgersteak and rice, yum! Definitely would recommend this place! ^_^ Little bit of a wait but I didn't mind. The food was worth it and we have patience. Lol.

Great food & prime rib

Only a handful of tables but I ordered takeout as my cousin suggested. Had the garlic shrimp, loco moco, and hamburger steak. Everything was definitely good and what you'd expect to taste like for local eats, but on a higher level with tons of flavor and portions big enough for the cost. Will for sure eat here again while we're visiting, and will now make this our go to spot!

Food was yummy... Loved Chicken Long Rice and Kalbi Ribs !!! But may be the hostess is overwhelmed and bit not so nice for a while!! Small place with great food!!

As local as it gets, and makes some delicious food. The restaurant is small and it can be quite busy. Service is friendly and the menu prices are reasonable. Daily specials are written on a blackboard and can be quite extravagant such as lobster!

I had many great meals while visiting Kauai but this was probably my favorite. I got the Smiley's Chicken, done garlic and chili (or something like that), and it was some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. My wife ordered garlic shrimp and that was great too. This is clearly a favorite for locals and there's no wonder why.

This family restaurant serve an amazing hawaiian food, and they are very nice with all the customers ! I recommend strongly this restaurant if you want to try an authentic cuisine :)

Amazing place to get some plate lunch and local food.The fried chicken with the sweet chili sauce is top 5 I've ever had.The kalbi was delicious, katsu tasty, and the teriyaki beef juicy.The wait staff was nice, given the kids some chicken good while we waited.Must go if you are in Lihue.

Food was good. The Lau Lau was way too salty for me but still decent. Smileys chicken was great, crispy and sweet. Oxtail soup was great with fall off the bone meat and perfect amount of ginger and greens. Service wasn't too smiley but they did a good job nonetheless.

Stopped here because the place we were hoping was closed... so glad the other place was closed! Great laulau plate that comes with lomi salmon and chicken long rice. The perfect end to our Kauai stay.

Authentic, 'ono, affordable and homey. I had the laulau plate and everything was good. Laulau was flavorful (not too dry or too wet), Chicken long rice was perfect (not watered down), mac salad had a wonderful taste and texture (not just mayo), Lomi salmon was okay, it had pieces of salmon in it and was not runny. Only thing missing was poi!

Perfectly cooked Hawaiian short ribs and garlic chicken! Although both were just a teeny salty, the rice and spaghetti mac salad balance everything out. My husband and I were able to share a combo plate as the portions are huge. This definitely worth a stop if you are trying to have one last local meal before heading to the mainland as it is less than 10 minutes from the airport in Lihue. There is also a small discount in you pay with cash.

Tiny. Local feel. Very friendly and yummy! Get the grilled chicken salad, it was the best thing at our table.

Delicious food, generous portions. We went twice during our week long stay on Kauai. They only have six tables, so get there early or be prepared to wait outside.

So good, the most local food we had on the island. Sad that we found it the day we were leaving. Definitely be back the next time we come. Love that is ran by a local family.

Delicious food, friendly staff, and great prices! It's difficult to find authentic Hawaiian food, especially in Kauai which tends to cater to tourists with American-style food. I appreciated the hospitality at this restaurant, as well as the tasty Kalua Pork, Laulau, Oxtail Soup- and all sides were delicious as well! I went with a group of 12 family members, and they all has great things to say about the following entrees:-Lobster Special-Rib eye Steak-Prime Rib
